Based on an active airfield (the former RAF Llandwrog) the museum houses iconic aircraft such as Vampire, Sea Hawk, Hawker Hunter and Harrier. Part of the museum is devoted to telling the story of the RAF Mountain Rescue service, formed here in 1943, whilst some of the aircraft have open cockpits, allowing visitors to get an idea of how it felt to sit in a 1960's jet fighter.
