Forces Discount: In the 1940d and 1950s Sunspel made undershorts shorts for the then Ministry of War to supply aircrew in the Royal Air Force and as a result it is a real pleasure to provide an offer to our forces today. Sunspel introduced the boxer short to Britain from the US in 1947and it was later immortalised in the1985 Levi’s commercial with Nick Kamen, who was seen stripping down to his white Sunspel boxers. Sunspel began a close association with British cinema when approached to develop product for Daniel Craig’s debut as James Bond. Craig wore the Sunspel Riviera Polo in the opening sequence of Casino Royale and it became synonymous with the new modern image of the James Bond franchise.

Sunspel is an authentic English heritage brand founded in 1860. Thomas Hill founded the firm to supply the British Empire with high quality underwear and the label has always been an intriguing combination of innovation and tradition. Founded in Nottingham, the capital of Britain’s hosiery and lace industry, the family business was moved to Long Eaton in 1937, which is where the factory remains today. Sunspel is renowned for its innovation in textiles. By continuing to source the longest staple cotton such as Sea Island, Egyptian and Supima and by creating unique fabric structures, Sunspel is able to make exceptionally comfortable clothing. Sunspel’s design philosophy is to create modern everyday luxury clothing in an understated aesthetic. Sunspel pays rigorous attention to detail in design as well as manufacture, which is why their garments are considered classics. Sunspel still owns and operates its own factory from Long Eaton in the north of England. Here the human hand remains just as important as cutting edge machinery in the manufacturing process. Amongst their most renowned products are the boxer short, the polo shirt and of course the T shirt. Sunspel now has half a dozen stores across London, including two stand-alone women’s stores. They have pioneered new retail destinations such as Redchurch Street in East London and Chiltern Street in West London.
