Clitheroe’s La Vespa is an Italian ristorante and trattoria owned and run by Luigi and partner Donato, an Italian-born chef who is well known locally. The restaurant is situated on the main road into the centre of Clitheroe and really stands out from the crowd, a tall building with beautiful signage and lighting. The restaurant has a large open kitchen and serving area and can cater for around 90 diners. It’s a good spot for large groups and parties but also has some quiet and private out-of-the-way tables perfect for a romantic dinner. There is also a relaxing reception area with leather sofas. The kitchen turns out modern and traditional Italian cuisine with everything prepared from scratch, including the sauces. There is a large choice of home made desserts and a selection of Italian wines too.
